I am a citizen of the Cherokee Nation, but was raised in Colorado. My inspiration comes from nature and cultural patterns. I find inspiration with shapes, textures, lines and color that I see all around me. My painting reflects experiences, memories and impressions spending time outdoors. The skies over the mountains create amazing colors that reflect moments of time. I use vivid colors in my work to communicate seasons or time of day. One of my most favorite time of day is that twilight sky that reflects light, color and leaving mysterious shadows and spaces. I often include pathways with color, texture, and lines that lead the viewer into the composition. I use layers of color, lines and texture in my work that invites the viewer to look a bit closer. I create surface texture with brush strokes, layers of color and lines that create shadow edges, with pockets of color and light with each painting.
