As a Colorado native, I have always enjoyed the mountains whether it was a view from the city looking out or a hike through the woods. My painting reflects the experiences, memories and impressions with spending time in the Rocky Mountains. The Colorado skies over the mountains create amazing colors that reflect moments of time. I use vivid colors in my work to communicate seasons or time of day. One of the most favorite time of day for me is that twilight sky that reflects light, color that leaves mysterious shadows, shapes and spaces. I often include pathways with line, shape, and texture that lead the viewer into the composition. I use layers of color, and texture in my work that invites the viewer to look a bit closer. Creating surface texture, layers of color and often embedded material are an important part of my work.
We all have a connection to the land we live in and I hope to capture or invite the viewer to feel a part of the place.
